An Easy To Use Preparation Guide For Every RV Trip

12 Helpful Tips to Prep Your RV for Your Next Road Trip

  • Check the roof – Regular care, preventive maintenance, and periodic inspection can maximize your RV roof lifespan.
  • Check those tires – Remember to check all spare tires, too. Tire blowouts are a leading cause of RV accidents.
  • Check engine fluids, lights, and horn – If the technical manual recommends specific maintenance be done by a certified technician, then take it to a professional.
  • Check to see the hitch, connections, lights, and brakes – Your hitch and tow setup should be compatible with your load capacity.
  • Check the slides and awnings to make sure they work and have no damage or leaks.
  • De-winterize, if necessary.
  • Check batteries for corrosion and make sure to recharge.
  • Inspect and run generator. Check all your exterior lights and replace any bulbs that are burnt out.
  • Fill or exchange propane cylinders. After the propane appliances are working safely, check out the microwave, fridge, air conditioner, or any other electrical appliance.
  • Inspect you fire safety system.
  • Make sure tire pressure and items are well secured.
  • Clean all windows and mirrors.
